'I Am Racist': Cinnabon Worker Fired After Attack On Somali Couple

A Cinnabon employee in Wisconsin has been fired after a viral video showed her yelling racist comments at a Black Somali Muslim couple inside a mall bakery.

The incident was filmed at Bay Park Square Mall in Ashwaubenon, near Green Bay. In the clip, the white employee shouts from behind the counter, flips the couple off, and at one point says, “I am racist and I’ll say it to the whole entire world.”

The customer who recorded the exchange wrote that it began after she asked for more caramel on her cinnamon roll and the worker mocked her hijab.

Cinnabon released a statement saying the franchise owner “immediately terminated” the employee, calling her actions “completely unacceptable” and not reflective of what the company wants “for every guest and team member.”

Supporters have launched an online fundraiser for the couple, who they say were “traumatized” by the encounter. At the same time, a separate fundraiser claiming to support the fired worker has raised tens of thousands of dollars, echoing recent cases where people caught using racist language receive large online payouts.

News of the incident comes days after President Trump referred to Somali immigrants in the United States as “garbage,” saying “we don’t want them in our country,” and disparaging the community as a whole.
